For us botters, the server provider Netcup is one of the most attractive and cheapest providers available for servers.
The so-called "root servers" are interesting for us. You can take a look at them yourself at the following link:
According to Netcup, the root servers combine the best of dedicated and virtual servers. For us, this means that the server resources are fully available only to us and do not have to share them with others.
There are of course price and performance differences between the root servers. We would recommend you to use the RS 4000 G9 (32GB RAM) or the RS 8000 G9 (64GB RAM).
Once you have decided on a server and a payment model, you can add it to your shopping cart and purchase it. Netcup will then call you or send you an email to verify your identity in order to prevent abuse. Once this is done, you can directly start setting up your server. Don't let this scare you, it looks more complicated than it is.
After successful verification you will receive your access data for the Server Control Panel (SCP) and for the Customer Control Panel (CCP). Please change your password promptly and activate the 2FA authentication to protect yourself from data breaches!
Once you have successfully logged into the SCP, you are ready to go. First you have to install an operating system, in our case Windows.
Step 1: In SCP, click on "Control" in the left column and then on the red "Turn off Sever" button on the right side.
Step 2: Go back to the "Control" tab. Now you have to delete the harddisk. expiration date. To do this, enter your password and click on the slider.
Step 3: Click on the "Media" tab and then click on "DVD Drive." Then select "Windows Server 2019 DE-DE", flip the Boot Mode slider. After that, you can click "Insert DVD".
Step 4: After step 3, go to the control tab again and turn on the server.
Step 5: Click on the "General" tab and then click on the black box, this is already your server. After a short time, a screen with "Windows 2019" should appear. Click on "Next" and then click on "Install now".
Step 6: In this step, you need to select "Microsoft Server 2019 Standard Evaluation (desktop display)" and click "Next". Accept the license terms and click "Next" again.
Step 7: Now a window will open, "Windows Setup". Here you will select "Custom: install Windows only".
Step 8: For this step, go back to the Server Control Panel once again. Click on the Media tab and then on DVD Drive (see step 3). You will now need to insert/select the Windows Driver/Driver, this is located at the bottom of the list.
Step 9: After the DVD is inserted/selected, you can go back to your server and load the driver. There you will see a window, here you have to click on "Load driver". A pop-up window should appear, here you click on "browse".
Step 10: The file you are looking for is in viosci -> 2k19 -> amd64. Confirm with "Ok". The appropriate driver should now appear in the window and you can continue by clicking "Next".
Step 11: Now you have to insert a DVD into the SCP again. This time it is the "Windows Server 2019 DE-DE", which was also used at the beginning. Now go back to the server, hit the "Update" button and then click "Next". The installation may take a little time. Afterwards you can enter a password. Use the "Show keyboard" function in the upper left corner. Remember your password or write it down, because you will need it later. The Windows installation is now complete. The server is not connected to the internet yet.
Step 12: To connect your server to the Internet, you need to select the dashboard in the Server Manager (opens by itself) and go to the "Tools" tab in the upper right corner. Then click on "Computer Management" (2nd selection from the top). A window with the computer management opens. Click on "Device Manager" in the right column, select "Other Devices" and right click to select "Update Drivers". A pop-up window appears, click here on "Search for driver software on the computer". Now insert the "Windows Driver" DVD again. (See step 8). To find the driver you have to follow NetKVM -> 2k19 -> amd64. Then continue with "Next" and "Install".
Hooray! You did it, your server now has an internet connection and can be remote controlled with services like "Microsoft Remote Desktop".
Use your Netcup servers at your own risk. We are not liable for this company or any possible damage resulting from it (Netcup has been hacked in the past).
